Hi, we're the Green Tye Players...
The Green Tye Players are a small amateur dramatics group. We have been running for over 40 years now, We are a happy band of locals who enjoying getting together for a lot of fun and laughter! The Players thrive and still continues to provide the hamlets with a rare and special asset that encourages all that is positive about community.
We generally put on one production each year. It traditionally takes place in the run up to Easter, with rehearsals on Friday evenings during the dark and dreary months of January to March. Obviously all rehearsals conclude with a visit to the Prince of Wales for a drink and a debrief!
Whether you are someone who comes to see us every year, or someone new to the hamlets who has never seen us before, make sure you get your tickets early and come along to enjoy an evening that will be hard to forget! We can’t wait to welcome you!

HOW DO WE WORK……
Well, it’s all pretty simple! We have a small informal committee that includes a Director and Treasurer. The committee aims to have no more than 7 members at any one time. This helps to keep us functional and efficient. They are committed to managing the Players and organising the production of the annual show. Check out the current committee by visiting our Gallery page.
We rehearse, every Friday evening from January. Auditions are not necessary! We are just pleased to welcome anyone who wants to join either our cast or crew. Whilst we will always prioritise the inclusion of residents from the hamlets (past and present!) the Players is also happy to welcome residents from across the parish of Much Hadham in order to ensure that the group continues to flourish.
Please be aware that we are only able to welcome those who are 18 and over to the cast and crew. This is largely because we are unable to meet the increasingly rigorous requirements for the safeguarding of children in a club or community group setting.
If you are interested in joining us, please do get in touch, we would love to hear from you.

The Committee Members
Jane Browne
GTP Committee member and Director
Jane joined the Players in the same year as Bin, back in 2011. She loves being part of this enthusiastic and friendly group of locals! In 2014, she became joint director (with Sheila English) and since 2017 has been sole director. She is still probably best known for unexpectedly producing a golf club from the front of her dress during the Patsy Cline song “She’s Got You”!
Belinda Straker (Bin)
GTP Committee Member
Bin joined the cast back in 2011 as part of a recruitment drive to keep the Green Tye Players thriving as a community group. She lights up the stage and has become one of our leading talents! Along with Leonie, Bin takes responsibility for creating our choreography. This is not easy as many Players have 2 left feet, but she always managed to make us look good! Bin has played a very wide range of characters over the years and has a strong reputation as a goldfish as well as the rear end of a donkey and a bomb disposal expert!
Veronica Iliffe (V)
GTP Committee member
The lovely V is another cast member who has many years of experience under her belt. Like Karen, she was initially part of the Players during the era of the coven. She has taken the odd break from the cast, but she has now been back for several years and is always “up for a challenge” on stage, bringing so much natural talent to every role she takes. She is another of the cast with an amazing voice.
Leonie Wood
GTP Committee member
Leonie joined the cast in 2011 and enjoys being part of the Players because it gets her out of her comfort zone! She also loves getting together, having a laugh and helping each other feel more comfortable in their roles on the stage. Leonie, along with Bin has been responsible for producing some amazing choreography over the years! Her patience, especially when working with the wonderful men in our cast, is to be admired!
Karen Grundy
GTP Committee member and Treasurer
Karen is one of our most experienced cast members having joined the Players back in 2004, when the Coven were at the helm. Having taken a break for several years, she is now back treading the boards and we feel very lucky to have her back on stage with us.
Louise Cywinski
GTP Committee Member
5 Years old in1986 I nearly started my stage career when I was supposed to go onto stage with my dad, Peter Reed. Unfortunately my nerves got the better of me and I didn't go on. 13 years later at 18 I finally joined the Green Tye players in 1999 and still with them today.
